She holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor.Her research focuses on waste and wastewater treatment and valorisation, anaerobic digestion, bioeconomy, landfill greenhouse-gas mitigation, contaminated sediment remediation, and advanced electrochemical processes. She also has extensive expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), particularly in evaluating the environmental impacts and sustainability of waste-management systems, remediation technologies, and industrial processes.She is the scientific coordinator of the INTERREG Italy-France Maritime project GRRInPort2 and the scientific head of LISAP, the Laboratory of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pisa. She previously served as project manager for the LIFE RE MIDA project, which focused on microbial oxidation systems for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions from landfills, and for the Bio2Energy project on biohydrogen production from biowaste.
