The project aims at developing a multi-parameter smart sensor network to be deployed on each single battery cell, capable of measuring various physical properties in the time/space/frequency domains. It involves designing, developing, deploying, and testing a cyber-physical system that supports the concept of a SMART BATTERY CELL. The system will have a chemical-neutral architecture able to measure, monitor, and diagnose battery cell status in-situ and while in use, through real-time online electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, distributed temperature, and strain measurements.
